Random Encounters // Denise #ChuckII

One of the best things about photographing street-style is when you get to chat with the people you portrait, who are usually in their natural environment, which adds a spark of spontaneity and je ne sais quoi, while obviously looking fucking cool.

A perfect example has been Denise, a girl that’s part of the Converse UK PR team. I instantly spotted her outside of the Joy Love Wharf Headquaters in what was one of those moments when everything aligns and you get the perfect picture moment.

We’ve bonded pretty well and she is definitely one of my favorite people of this trip ;)

#MBFWP14 Grau

This #MBFW14has been different, first, I didn’t get the chance to dig deep into each collection, instead I produced the Levis Panama #LiveInLevis runway show along with my dear friend Carolina Tarté and shot the E! Latinamerica Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Panamá special, but amidst all of the above I surely saved some time to see one of my favorite designer’s collection, Alessandra Grau, who after a brief pause returned to the runways with a collection mainly centered in eveningwear –that in her words is now her biggest demand- but also featured solid cocktail pieces and affordable/I-want-to-wear-this-everyday individuals, my favorite ones? The black sheer-glittery long dress with flower appliqués in sequins and the last white deep cleavage top with cerulean full sheer skirt dress, but let’s face it, those ones were just the tip of the iceberg.

PROFILE/ Cristina Pineda from Pineda Covalín

Branding has always been a subject of my interest. How brands like Chanel, COS, Loewe, Guess, etc. have been capable of establishing their business thanks to the power of a name amidst all the competitiveness of today’s global market is something worth admiring. But the task of thinking of the same caliber of examples but in the Latin-American plethora of design is kind of tricky when all of the names that may come to your mind are the like of : Carolina Herrera, Ángel Sánchez, Rolando Santana or even Mexican newcomer MANDCANDY, thankfully, in this new PROFILE you will be introduced to one of the best examples of Latin-American design I’ve ever met.

Pineda Covalín was created 17 years ago by Cristina Pineda and Ricardo Covalín; a brand whose evolution is so admirable as is the woman I had the pleasure to chat with and who you will get to know in the next few paragraphs.

Just Say "Sí"

////////////////////////////////////////////////

As I’m sure you may be thinking, unfortunately I am not accepting Tom Daley’s marriage proposal with the title of this post, instead I am targeting a more important subject that also demands a Yes as an answer – or “” for the fancy ones.

For many years I was that son that gave his mother pajama pants and home decor items even though she was not interested in them, but now that I’m 21 I have learnt how essential is for a son to say “” to saving money and giving my mother a gift that truly stands for how much I love her (although we all know the best thing you can give to your mama is note even tangible.)

My mama is a very dedicated woman whose personality is as serene and calm as the sweet breeze of the morning, she is also very hard working and sometimes stays up very late in order to finish something she started. My mom studied Fine Arts in Brazil and has since then worked as a director in one of the divisions of Panama’s Cultural Institute.

She is luminous and loves the homey life (is that even a word?). She exudes charisma and freedom; everytime I get home my mom is the one that calms me down.

With all that said, I had a very tough time deciding what to give my mom for Mother’s Day (Dec 8th in Panama) but at the end I think I’ve found something that matches her perfectly.

This new fragrance by Giorgio Armani perfectly called “” (Yes in Italian and Spanish) not only brings out the melody that comes in being a woman but it says yes to the modernity of being feminine and elegant. Its mix of Cassis cream with modern Chipre, May Rose, Orcanox and delicate spearmint (if you didn’t get anything that I just wrote don’t worry, when you get to smell the perfume you will understand.) make up for a suitable gift for the chic mom that we all have.

And I am obviously giving this perfume to my mom because I want her to smell like Chic Queen Cate Blanchett.
