My Kalu Yala Experience

What does it mean to challenge your comfort zone? Wearing that pair of shoes you’re skeptical about wearing? Going out with someone who’s the total opposite of you? Or trying a new lipstick shade?

There are so many ways to challenge yourself, mine happened this weekend and it has been the best thing ever.

Random Encounters: Judith

When I first told my friends and relatives I was coming to Mexico City all they said was to be aware of my surroundings, to not talk to people on the streets and to keep an eye on my stuff.

What the hell is traveling without getting to know the local’s stories? Simply nothing!

Met Judi while waiting on the stop light right on Reforma, immediately I though she managed herself in such a curious and elegant way; obviously what she was wearing caught my eye, a look full of personality. She invited me to follow her so we could talk more, the I discovered she is actually a very talented muralist with a studio right between Reforma and Angel de la Independencia, even though I could not go to her studio I’m happy I connected with such a peculiar person amidst such a huge city ;)

On Our Way to La Décima!

The formula for a great night is simple: drinks, great people and… The Beachers!

Wednesday night was the witness of the first fundraising party on our way to the Tenth Central American Biennale, which from its beginnings has been handled by Carmen Alemán Healy from Grupo Arteconsult and FundAHrte, and the Fernández Pirla Foundation.

With a silent auction with pieces by artists like Cisco Merel, Fernando Toledo, Gabriela Esplá, Sandra Eleta, Anna Carolina Gelabert, Santiago Cruz and many more, a right-on-the-spot monologue by the master of words Jaguar Clandestino, and to end things rights, the calypso tunes of The Beachers. It was truly a magical night, the vibe that hovered above us like a cloud was bubbly and contagious, I really hope night like that would repeat.

If you’re interested in any type of information regarding the Biennale or any of the Panamanian/local artists that are gonna be participating don’t be shy and email FundAHrte at info@fundahrte.org ;)
