Hace unos meses en un almuerzo con una amiga muy cercana me contó: “este año #VogueEnVivo va a regresar pero con algo totalmente diferente, va a ser mucho más interactivo, pero no te voy a contar más porque quiero que sea sorpresa”.

Con toda la razón del mundo, #VogueEnVivo regresa a Multiplaza totalmente reinventado como Madonna cada vez que saca un nuevo álbum; esta vez tú puedes ser parte de mil formas.

Empezando por un promocionón: existen cuarenta y tres tiendas que forman parte de #VogueEnVivo este año, por cada $100 que compres en esas cuarenta y tres tiendas te darán un cupón para que te ganes un auto Lincoln del año. El 15 de agosto (último día de la promoción) en vez de un cupón te darán tres, y si compras con tarjetas de crédito CITI recibes cinco; por la compra de productos Samsung Galaxy te llevas también cinco. Tenía solamente 9 añitos. Recuerdo clarito como el agua cuando mi hermana me sacaba a pasear en su camioneta y después de poner mi CD con los soundtracks de las películas de Disney ella le daba play a una canción que luego haría una tremenda huella en la vida de todos nosotros los hijos de los 90s: Don’t Tell Me de Madonna.

La onda country-cowboy siempre ha sido una de las más “chifeadas” en lo que a tendencias de moda se refiere pero por algún motivo al entrar en el 2014 poco a poco veo más y más hints de que pronto estaremos visitando el wild west.

No fue hasta diciembre del año pasado cuando Chanel presentó su tan esperada colección Métiers D’Art que confirmé que probablemente Dolly Parton sería parte de nuestra inspiración durante parte del 2014.

I was only 9yo when my older sister & I used to drive around the city. After I finished listening to my Disney Soundtracks CD she played non-stop Madonna’s Music album, Don’t Tell Me was my obsession; I spent so many hours trying to memorize the choreography.

The smudged denim, the sensual leather shirt and the cowboy hats really made an impact not only on me but on a whole generation. Nonetheless, cowboy style has always been kind of an underdog when it comes to fashion trends, which is actually sad considering the richness and abundance of the region.

To my surprise, western style has slowly made its way in 2014, or let’s says December 2013 when Chanel presented the long-awaited Métiers D’Art collection called “Paris-Dallas”.

An Extraordinary Theory of Objects

Como ya deberías saber hoy es el Día Internacional del Libro. Siempre le he dicho a mis amigos y a mis familiares que si me van a regalar algo que me regalen un libro (también acepto dinero o botellas de vodka) porque es el mejor regalo que se puede hacer, siempre y cuando sea un buen libro, no se vale Paulo Coelho ni Twilight, mucho menos 50 Shades...

Quería entonces aprovechar que me acabo de terminar un libro que esperé mucho y que la verdad llenó todas mis expectativas, “An Extraordinary Theory of Object: A Memoir of an Outsider in Paris” de Stephanie LaCava.

Primero que todo quiero resaltar que amo las memoirs – sobre todo leerlas en alto porque siento como si el autor la estuviera diciendo a través de mi voz – y ésta en especial cuenta la historia de Stephanie LaCava, una reconocidísima periodista de moda que relata por medio de pequeños ensayos su temprano desarrollo en la vida y como se mantenía al margen de la sociedad a pesar de sus pensamientos extraños y diferentes por medio del apego a objetos curiosos que de alguna manera llenaban vacíos hechos en su niñez.

Todos en esta vida nos aferramos a objetos, ya sea por los recuerdos que nos evocan o por lo difícil que fue conseguirlos, por eso para celebrar hoy me lancé a escoger algunos objetos a los que yo me siento aferrado, unos representan pasiones y otros son símbolos de cosas que me formaron para ser lo que soy hoy en día, aquí tienen Mi Extraordinaria Teoría de Objetos...

As you may –should- know today’s the World Book Day. As a faithful reader I’ve always told my friends & family that the perfect gift will truly be a book –although cash & bottles of vodka also fill the requirements-, of course it has to be a good book, no Paulo Coelho shit nor Twilight nor 50 Shades of Grey... those are totes out of the question.

Books like the one I recently finished are the ones I really enjoy. “An Extraordinary Theory of Objects: A Memoir of an Outsider in Paris” by Stephanie LaCava is refreshing memoir by renowned fashion journalist & writer who deepens back into her childhood memories where she narrates how she coped up with her awkwardness by grasping her feeling & emotions to physical object which often filled up the emptiness created by vague relationships & superficial bonds with her parents.

Me, being someone who cherishes the nostalgia & warm objects bring to life & someone who has crammed his room with loads of books, clothes, shoes, accessories, art pieces, etc. really related to LaCava’s perspective of life, so I’ve curated some of the objects that evoke emotions & memories in my life, here’s My Extraordinary Theory of Objects…

.MCMA. FWPTY 2012 (Day 1)

                     

"The ultimate thing behind the song is that if you don't express yourself, if you don't say what you want, then you're not going to get it. It's my take on how man can express what they want, the same prerogative should be there for a woman too."

The best part about fashion is the fun factor, where you can dare to be a rebel & defy the norm. Madonna has not only preached that in her songs but throughout her style evolution & that has made her a true & genuine inspiration for billions in this world.

Two of that huge crowd are Carolina & me, designer of MCMA. This collection was fully inspired in the Material Girl & her love of self-confidence through fashion.

This must have been one of my favorites of all the FWPTY collections, not only because of the Madonna factor (big factor to be sincere) but also because of the easiness & for the fact that the clothes really had the Madonna gene, it included the crosses of her Like A Virgin years, the hair accessories from her Holiday video, the leather from the Papa Don’t Preach (The Immaculate Collection!), the skin showing of Open Your Heart & even the white maxi dresses that totally remind me of her Bedtime Story performance at the 1995 Brit Awards. 

I will now shut up because when it comes to Madonna I get too intense & start talking like a drunk for hours…

A Ball to remember…

I think this is the day all fashionista is waiting for the whole year. The Super Bowl of the fashion world.

Since we are celebrating Alexander McQueen this gala was meant to be pure extravaganza, show stopping dresses

& gowns walked the red stairs, stairs that lead the path to the exhibition, the one I’ve been talking about

all year & the one I’ll be enjoying this Thursday ( not bragging, just superb happy :D ). I have to pack everything

my flight leaves at 10.25 & haven’t even selected the pieces I’ll be taking, & I will have to be very very

picky now, I want to shop like a maniac.

Now back to the Gala, these are the looks that surprised me, the looks that haunt me, the looks that

I’d die to have:

Para mi el MET Ball es como el mundial de fútbol pero en el mundo de la moda, es la gala a la cual todos van

para impresionar (si no me creen solamente checkeen las galas anteriores, especialmente la que tenía a los

superheroes como tema). Desde Madonna hasta Rihanna (las –nnas son las más fabulosas), desde Karle Kloss

hasta Raquel Zimmermann, todo el mundo espera el MET Ball.

Este año el tema principal fue Savage Beauty, título que también tiene la exhibición que se celebraba, en honor

a Lee McQueen (si no saben de que hablo debe ser porque me visitan por primera vez, he estado hablando de

eso toodo el año).

Y por cierto, estén atentos porque voy a esta exhibición y claro que tomaré fotos para todos ustedes :)

Como se que lo que ustedes quieren es ver y no leer, me callo y aqui van los vestidos y las personas más fabulosas
