Vuitton Nods the Old Masters Along with Koons

It seems like 2017 it’s gonna be a very busy year for French maison Louis Vuitton. After revealing its Supreme collab in its latest men’s collection, now one of their most controversial partnerships has been unveiled.

When Jeff Koons debuted his “Gazing Balls” series at the Gagosian Gallery in 2015, in which he meticulously hand-painted 35 European masterpieces and placed a range of either aluminum or blue glass “gazing balls” in front of them, press went mad questioning the real point of Koons – was this really art or just a publicity stunt?

No strangers to artist collaborations (let’s walk down memory lane through some past collections with artists the like of Murakami, Stephen Sprouse, Richard Prince, Yayoi Kusama, Cindy Sherman, James Turrell, Olafur Eliasson, Daniel Buren, etc.), Vuitton now commissioned the American artist to continue his 2015-series now using their Speedy, Keepall and Neverfull bags as canvas.

Smells Like Vuitton Spirit

Louis Vuitton is probably one of the most complete luxury brands ever: it has legacy and heritage, which unwaveringly connects with a narrative of innovation and re-invention; the quality of its products speaks for itself, letting the amazing sense of branding pave the way. Each season LV soars with a flag of leadership amidst an industry that more than ever confuses “creativity” with “collectivity” and “numbers”.

As a big (emphasize in “big”) fan of the brand I’ve always trusted every decision the house makes, because deep in my heart I know I’ll love it anyways. But – as surely a lot of you – I’ve always put into questioning the following: why hasn’t Louis Vuitton tapped into the fragrance game? Especially in a cluster where every other brand launches one or two perfumes per season; but the waiting has finally ceased.

Random Encounter / Sarah

I met Sarah on my way out of the Louis Vuitton SS16 show this morning. I stopped her for a beauty picture but since she had already taken her make-up off we just immersed ourselves in conversation about this season’s sheananigans.

Sarah is from Memphis, city where she was also discovered by a booker. She now lives in New York in order to pursuit her career as a model, which by the way seems to have started with the biggest bang: Alexander Wang’s last Fall/Winter, and she walked for Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent last night.

Girls like Sarah are a million nowadays. The modeling world is much more competitive than the one that revolves around designers, bloggers or press, the important thing –as Sarah showed me- is to always keep yourself grounded and keep clear in mind that, in the words of Heidi Klum: “in fashion one day you’re in, and the other day you’re out.”

#FashionGlobeTrotter Mustard & Ketchup

This is my second year in a row attending the big leagues of fashion aka Paris Fashion Week (I’m sure not even Alex Rodríguez would be up for this game). If there’s one show that always moves me and brings kind of tears to my eyes is the Louis Vuitton show (I hope those were some LV branded tears at least); this year Nico Ghésquiere –the one’s closet to always call him Nico, hello!- decided to show his SS15 at the mint new Fondation Louis Vuitton, a building that seriously has got to be one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture that I’ve ever seen. Obviously, once I knew I was invited to this show all I could think was “what the fuck am I gonna wear?”, I needed something fashion-forward yet sensible and nonchalant, something that could let other dream but not fall asleep, and something that could translate well in Street-style pictures (I mean duh! You gotta milk the cow if you want to make it into Le21éme!), luckily for me, while I was in London I met the work of the amazing Edeline Lee, a designer that knows all about showstoppig-comfortable-edgy designs. Before it was too late –it is never too late- here’s the head-to-ankle look from her SS15 collection shown at Somerset House London; hope you like it, and if you don’t, well it is yours to miss :D

Louis Vuitton FW 2012

The fashion marketing here in Panama has landed in reachable hands, & I say that because now the bloggers are a big part of it. Big brands (such as Louis Vuitton) have noted that & have included us in their marketing plan.

This year is so important for the 158-years-old-fashion house since we (& with "we" I mean the fashion community) are celebrating 15 years of Marc Jacobs at the maison celebre.

There will also be a great exhibition at Les Arts Decoratifs, in which the maison will fete the immense joy & impact Jacobs has brought to Louis Vuitton over the years. The opening of this exhibition will also be live streamed here so be sure not to miss it!

Showtime: 10 am (Paris time)
Exhibition Opening: 8pm (Paris time)

oh! I don't  forget to tweet with the official hashtag #LVLive ! Share with everyone this celebration of creativity!
