La veras siempre
recorriendo los closet de las personas con más estilo de Panamá, pero en esta
ocasión volteamos la tortilla y yo fui el que escudriñé hasta el último rincón
de su armario.

spotted her on Instagram, who knows? Whichever way, there’s something I am 100%
sure you don’t know about Debbie
Kuzniecky: her closet.
Debbie is known for raiding the closets of the coolest
people in Panama but this time I flipped the table and went through her space
to find out all the juicy things that make her a pixie vintage.

Si hay
algo que distingue a Debbie es su afición por las piezas vintage. Muchas de las
que tiene han sido heredadas de sus abuelas, entre esas piezas se pueden
destacar: un saco de los años 70s de Carolina Herrera –una de las primera
creaciones de la diseñadora venezolana, un collar de cristales que pertenecía a
su bisabuela y una gran cantidad de bolsos de diseñadores como Fendi, Balmain y Ferragamo.
Uno de
los secretos de Debbie es que ella nunca paga el precio de retail de sus
artículos de diseñador, en cambio, se confiesa una asidua a las subastas de
eBay y a los mercadillos y ventas de patio, donde asegura haber tenido mega
deal hasta abajo de los $300. También tiene a la reconocida tienda Promises
Panama como uno de sus lugares favoritos para encontrar items que no se
encontrarían en ningún otro lugar.
If there’s something that sets
Debbie apart is her love for vintage pieces. Many of those have been inherited
from her grandmothers: a blazer from the 70s by Carolina Herrera –which is
actually part of one of the designer’s first collections, a crystal necklace
from her great grandmother and an array of designer bags from the like of
Fendi, Balmain and Ferragamo.
One of Debbie’s best-kept
secrets is that she never pays full price for a designer item, instead, she
clings her hands to the keyboard during eBay auctions, visits flea markets or
yard sales and has Promises, one of Panama’s most famous consignment stores, in
the top of her list. According to her, she has made great deals in some of
these places.

Otra de
las obsesiones de Debbie son los sombreros; casi siempre la verás con algo en
la cabeza, o en todo caso con un nuevo corte/color de cabello. Según ella, el
primer sombrero vintage que compró fue uno de Burberry, que lo compró en Israel
mientras estudiaba una maestría en Cine. Actualmente, en su closet tiene desde berets
franceses hasta fedoras de terciopelo que su abuela compró en una de las
primeras sucursales de Felix B. Maduro.
Hats are also a big deal for Debbie.
The first one from her collection is a men’s Burberry hat that she bought back
then when she was studying her Master in Film, nowadays you will find almost
every style of hat in her collection, from French berets to velvet fedoras.
Algo
que definitivamente no puede faltar en el closet de toda mujer es una buena
variedad de zapatos: flats, tacones, cuña, sandalias, kitten heel, slingbacks,
pumps, etc. en fin, a mi concepto, los zapatos hacen que un outfit sea ganador
o simplemente que se pierda en el montón. Debbie confiesa que los que más le
gustan ahorita mismo son las flats plateadas de la última colección de Karl
Lagerfeld x Melissa shoes.
One thing that’s a must in every
woman’s closet is a plethora of shoes: flats, heels, wedges, sandals, and pumps,
et al. I really think a shoe is the responsible of a great outfit, it seals the
deal and Debbie knows that too, her current go-to pair is the silver
pointed-toe flats from the recent Karl Lagerfeld x Melissa shoes.
Debbie fue en un entonces la co-propietaria junto con su mama de la
boutique Sathya, muchas de las piezas que ves en las fotos estuvieron en las
perchas de su tienda, que aun es recordada como una de las mejores de la
ciudad.

pieces you see in these photographs were once in the racks of the store.
Ying-Yang: un tip muy útil que encontré en los looks de Debbie es
el de mezclar algo muy femenino con algo masculino, por ejemplo: este top de
rayas blancas y negras de lentejuelas con este boyfriend jean o este par de
botas Caterpillar con una falda larga estilo Stevie Nicks, de alguna forma
añade “profundidad” a tu look y lo hace más interesante.
Gender-Bender: a really useful
tip I share with you is to mix a feminine piece with a masculine one, for example:
this striped sequined top with this pair of boyfriend jeans or perhaps a long
skirt Stevie-Nicks-style with this pair of Caterpillar boots. This will add depth to your look and will make you more interesting to the eye.
Pero
definitivamente, el mejor detalle que me encontré en la casa de Debbie fue a
Itay, su pequeño hijo que por lo que veo ha heredado de su madre el amor por la
música, las películas y esperemos el estilo ;)

I came across at Debbie’s was Itay, her son who has obviously inherited from
his mother his love for music, movies and hopefully her great style ;)
