The New Uber Haus

Lejos quedaron los días en los que en Panamá solamente se podía ir a hacer shopping al mall. Si mal no me equivoco fue hace como cinco o cuatro años que el movimiento de boutiques en la ciudad comenzó a surgir - y esto no es shade hacia las boutiques que ya existían pero aquí me refiero a concept boutiques como de la que les vengo a hablar hoy.

De todas las tiendas de lifestyle que hay en Panamá probablemente una de mis favoritas es y siempre será Uber. Desde sus inicios en noviembre 2012 estas manes estaban claritas en lo que querían y en cómo iban a traducirlo al mercado, es muy difícil ahora llegar a cubrir casi todas las necesidades de tu clientela sin que se sienta forzado y en eso Uber ha sido pionera, hasta el punto que ya no es una boutique, es una casa “Uber Haus”.

Y si, es uno de los lugares más cools de la ciudad by far, siempre me encuentro gente cool y amigos con los que termino tomándome algo y echando cuentos mientras ellas/ellos o yo compramos ropa mega cool de marcas que van desde Mara Hoffman hasta las más famosas de Australia. Ahora es tiempo de evolucionar y para eso han añadido nuevos espacios de los que ya estoy enamorado:

Long gone are the days when the mall reigned over Panama’s shopping habits. If I’m right, it was four or five years ago when the first boutique movement started – and I’m not being shady to all of the other boutiques but we’re talking about lifestyle and concept boutiques.

Out of all of these new places, Uber is probably one of my favorites. Ever since it first opened in November 2012, these girls were on point when it came to giving the market what it lacked of, no one has ever fulfilled the need of their customers like Alessa, Em and Tere did, and are still doing. To the point where it is no longer Uber Shop, it became Uber Haus.

And yes, it is indeed one of the coolest places in the city, you’ll always find cool peeps and friends to hang out while you shop or grab something to eat/drink. Fashion-wise is also very ahead of the trends, especially in Panama, they sell from Mara Hoffman to the top Australian brands.

But not it’s time to evolve and new spaces have been added to the Uber family:

-       Boutique Flowers: más que una florería esta es una experiencia – y ojo, yo soy de los que detesto con todo mi alma el maluso de esta palabra en el neo-marketing barato de nuestros días. Truth be told, me he pasado tardes enteras jugando con Diana (una de las dueñas y creativas) haciendo miles de combinaciones, es increíble como puedes sacar de solo un par de ramos de flores tantas cosas bellas. Y ahora, en vez de quedar en el segundo piso, se han movido al patio trasero de la casa en un espacio que en serio, les quedó increíble. Súper espacioso, ahora tienen una mayor variedad de flores y colores, floreros y jarrones para que tu también vayas a perderte en los olores. // 

       More than a flower shop this is an experience – and I’m talking serious, I’m one of those who hates the misuse of that word. Truth be told, I do have spent complete days and afternoons with Diana (one of the owners) mixing flowers and creating awesome arrangements, and realizing how many amazing results you can have out of just a couple of flowers. Now, instead of the second floor, Boutique Flowers has moved to the back patio of the house in a beautiful and spacious corner where you too will be able to get lost in colors and smells.

-       Mesología: cuando me enteré que iban a tener un lugar especializado en tablescaping (que es el arte de diseñar la mesa para cenas/almuerzos/brunch con vajillas, manteles, etc.) les juro que mi inner Hamptons-gay-adult was creaming inside me: si hay algo que adoro, es preparar la mesa cuando ceno con mis amigos. Conversando con Elvira (una de las propietarias en conjunto con Helga de 4Bistro) me doy cuenta que arreglar la mesa de una manera creativa va más allá de simple vanidad, en verdad es un acto súper tranquilizador, casi espiritual, en el que al igual que vestirse bien, demuestras tu personalidad a través de la versatilidad de las piezas. En serio los/as invito a que se den una vuelta, y si quieren me invitan a una cena, nuestro OCD la va a pasar bomba ;) //

When I first knew that they were bringing tablescaping (the art of designing the table for dinners/brunches/lunches) to Uber I was about to faint, my inner Hamptons-gay-zilla was screaming from the deepest parts of my soul: if there’s one thing I adore is to set the table when I get together with my friends. Chatting with Elvira (one of the owners along with Helga from 4Bistro) I realized that this art goes beyond just vanity, setting the table and designing a mood through the china and all of the items is just like dressing up, with it you can externalize your personality and creativity. I really invite you to visit this place, it’s so charming and all of the plates and utensils are gorgeous.

-       Mitu: en la entrada de este espacio hay un tipi y con eso se ganó mi corazón. Este es un espacio para las mamás cools que quieren que su hijo/a también sea la más cool, hay desde juguetes, accesorios, cunas, cobertores, ropa. Te reto a salir de aquí sin el corazón derretido. //

At the entrance of this new space there’s a tipi, enough said. If you’re a cool momma and you want your son/daughter to be cool too this is your new favorite place, from toys, accessories, cribs, blankets, clothing, everything. I dare you to exit this space without your heart melted.

Hoy 11 de agosto va a ser la re-inauguración de The New Uber Haus, desde las 5 van a haber tragos y gente cool asi que pásate un rato ;)

The new Uber Haus will be re-launching today August 11th so join everyone with your glass of champagne and scream: cheers!
