Hace
unos años, cuando era un estudiante de Fotografía, la profesora de Historia de
Arte solía presentarnos una película cada viernes, la primera recuerdo clarito
que fue Girl with a Pearl Earring de Peter Webber con Colin Firth y Scarlett
Johansson; instantáneamente quedé enamorado de la historia de Johaness Vermeer
y su sirvienta, cuya relación estrictamente profesional dio a luz a uno de los
retratos más conocidos de la Edad Moderna –específicamente del Barroco.
Mismo
retrato fue el que vino a mi mente cuando vi este collar de la colección
Spring/Summer 2014 de Chanel, también inspirada en el arte y en el taller de un
joven pintor; ahora cuando uso el collar no puedo evitar sentirme como una
versión moderna de ese óleo sobre canvas, solo que esta vez reemplazo el canvas
por mi blog ;)

A couple of
years ago, while studying my MBA in Photography, the Art History teacher told
us to write a paper of Peter Webber’s movie Girl with a Pearl Earring with
Colin Firth and Scarlett Johansson, I still remember how in love I fell with
that movie, the art direction, the acting of these two stars, the dialogues,
everything is so compelling you should see it to believe it. It’s so brilliant
to see how a director re-interpreted the story behind such an iconic portrait
in Modern Age –specifically the Baroque.
This same
portrait was the one that came to my mind when I saw the Spring/Summer 2014
Chanel show in Paris, same collection that was also inspired in the art of
living and the living of an artist; now everything I wear this amazing necklace
I picture myself as the modern version of that classic oil on canvas, the only
thing is that instead of fabric this portrait uses my blog as support :D
