Hay
tres cosas que entran en la categoría de très
chic en estos días: Fashion Week, brunch en Casco (preferiblemente en
Tántalo, yo se lo que les digo) y mimosas en la mañana de un domingo (Mae West
would die). La perfecta formula sería entonces brunch en Casco antes de los
desfiles de Fashion Week, ça c’est trop
chic!
Estoy
clarito que he estado hablando de Fashion Week bastante últimamente, pero no me
culpen, estoy seguro que a ustedes también les emociona.
Es
muy difícil sopesar que es más importante en la moda, el dinero o el
conocimiento, para mí es más importante el conocimiento, el dinero viene
después, no se puede tener huevos sin la gallina!
Por
eso es que incluyo al Istituto Marangoni en este post. Este Istituto que esta
localizado en cuatro puntos clave en lo que es la industria de la moda (Milán,
París, Londres y ahora Shangai) ha sido uno de los más grandes creyentes en el
talento nacional.
A
través de las becas que dan cada año a la mejor colección de Fashion Week ha
sacado a relucir a grandes talentos como lo son Michelle Zarak, Michelle
Nassar, Juan David Vélez y recientemente a los hermanos de Vergara &
Vergara.
Para
escoger al ganador de esta beca se toma en consideración una serie de puntos
muy importantes en una colección, de esta manera se juzgan cada una de las
habilidades del diseñador:
1. Desarrollo
y Concepto de la Colección.
2. Innovación
y Creatividad.
3. Imagen
de la Colección Puesta en escena (Styling)
4. Acabado
y Precisión en los Detalles de las Piezas.
5. Calidad
en la Presentación del Portafolio del Diseñador.
Yo
de verdad espero que uno de los diseñadores emergentes se lleve la oportunidad
de ir a pulir su talento a cualquiera de los Istitutos disponibles ya que hay
tanto talento efervescente que no se puede dejar pasar. Sólo esperemos a ver
las colecciones, por ahora nos queda hacer nuestras apuestas y que el mejor
gane!

There are three things
that are chic in the fashion world of Panama: Fashion Week, brunch in Casco
& mimosas on a Sunday morning. It's hard to keep up with each and every one
of them, especially with the first one, since it's the closest we can get to
international fashion recognition.
I've been talking about
it for weeks (you are probably tired by now) but let me clear this for you, it
won't stop.
Knowledge & money are
both synonyms of power, you decide which one you prefer, for me it's all about
good education & after that the money will rain from heavens, but there's
no eggs without a hen. That's why I'm doing a post about Istituto
Marangoni.
Istituto Marangoni has
four homes (Milan, Paris & London; super chic) & now the freshly added,
Shangai (China is seriously a big fashion statement nowadays, keep an eye on
them) & represents a considerable influence on panamanian designers.
It has supported many of
the designers that are now leading the way & will surely keep nesting great
talent through their annual scholarship given to the best collection in Fashion
Week Panama. Faces like Michelle Zarak, Juan David Velez, Michelle Nassar have
earned the prize & recently, Vergara & Vergara,
the dynamic duo of brothers that's been the chit-chat of every
fashion aficionado in the country.
In order to achieve a
good decision there are some bullets that are taken into account when the
winner of the scholarship is chosen:
- Development & Concept of
the collection.
- Innovation & Creativity
- Staging of the Collection &
Styling skills.
- Finishing & Details
precision.
- Quality of the Portfolio.
I'm
really hoping an up-and-coming designer wins the prize since we have so much
talents effervescing, but I'll let you be the judge once Fashion Week
kicks off, for now, let's just make the bets!
