The NMD Gets a Makeover

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a thousand more: the adidas NMD may be the best sneakers made in recent years – and I’m being crystal clear here.

At first sight, these sneakers really surprise. Further the clean and contemporary design, it was not until I tried them on when it clicked: the real value of the NMD is how fucking comfortable they are, what makes them the perfect traveling companion (no, it is not Rivotril), in just one pair you pack the technology that guarantees that you’re not gonna get tired in three hours, and the look that will definitely be a conversation started everywhere you go – trust me, it’s happened to me.

The latest news from the peeps at adidas Originals is the NMD_R1, a visual update of the OG NMD silhouette, which comes within two new iterations of the previous style.

Zero fuzz attached, the new NMD_R1 plays with a new color palate that come with the white BOOST equipment (just like the classic), with the upper part of the mesh now reproduced in newly design finishing.
More than an explanation I believe this is a case of “a picture speaks more than words”, and if you want to see them 3D they’re already available for purchase at the Originals Multiplaza store.

Wang x adidas Is Happening... Fucking Now!

Always expect the unexpected at an Alexander Wang show. Remember back in July when rumors started spreading about a new possible addition to the adidas lines plateau – which include names like Stella McCartney, Rick Owens, Raf Simons, Kanye West (ugh), Yohji Yamamoto – but this time co-related to a name we all know very well: Alexander Wang.

Smoke has been cleared out of the air and news have been confirmed: Wang will be designing an alternate line for the German brand. “Originals is such an iconic brand, with instantly recognizable symbols and trademarks. It’s both grounded in heritage and also completely modern,” the designer stated to Vogue via email. “With this collection, the idea was to take the codes and iconography of the Adidas Originals brand and look at what their symbols mean and turn them on their head (note: literally, he literally turned the brand logo upside-down), to invert what’s on the surface and add a layer of subversion; also to toy with the idea of what’s authentic and what’s fake, and how a certain setting can change perception entirely.”

The 84-pieces collection includes a tee, sweatshirt, hoodie, tricot, and three footwear styles. Price range goes from $80 to $200 and will be sold firstly at pop-up shops in NYC (if you’re in town go get your shit at one of the addresses I attached in a picture), but come next spring the complete line will be sold at Adidas Originals and Alexander Wang stores and e-comm sites, and select retailers.

“When we worked from very early on we picked up on the idea of breaking rules and conventions, and looking at how products are bought and resold today, the reseller market, for instance, and the culture of leaks and fakes,” writes Nic Galway, VP of Global Design for adidas Originals. “Those were the key elements that inspired the project.”

This as you may recall could be the start of something big for Alexander, take for instance Yohji Yamamoto who first approached the brand with the three stripes for his Fall/Winter 2001 collection for co-branded sneakers, which then ended up in the creation of his own line Y-3, and Y-3 Sports consequently.

For the moment I’m just going to cross my fingers and toes in the attempt of getting lucky at having my ones on one piece at least, pray with me sista ;)
